Beer is the biggest alcohol category, accounting for about half the market and over 2,000 people are directly employed in the brewing industry. Beer generates approximately one billion euro in tax revenue every year in this country and about 40% of the beer brewed here is exported. With beer consumption in Ireland now approaching the average level of most Northern European countries, the IBA members work together to ensure all are aware of their industry's great contribution to Irish social and economic life.
