Ibec Public Contracts Group

The Ibec Public Contracts Group brings together the experience and expertise of companies involved in selling into the public sector or those trying to access this important market. The principle objective is to improve the performance and value for money of public services and infrastructure delivery. It will result in a more powerful voice for industry in promoting the development of transparent, equitable and efficient procurement processes, be they traditional procurements or public-private partnerships, across the entire public sector.

The Group meets three to four times a year and is chaired by Paul Duff, Accenture's Executive Director - Health & Public Service.

Common areas for work (incorporating core objectives of both groups) can be indentified on a thematic basis. These include:

Improvement through better procurement;
Promoting efficiency;
Investing in infrastructure;
Innovative ways for delivering public services.

For specific areas, standing sub-committees have been established to examine and deliver specific action points. These include committees on the following: public procurement process (legal); shared services; and infrastructure delivery. Each sub-committee reports back to the larger Public Contracts Group.
