Information and consultation

Communicating and consulting with employees is known to add value to every organisation. It facilitates employees to contribute effectively and add value .

In this section we address the obligations on employers to consult with employees under the Employees (Provision of Information and Consultation) Act 2006. Employee engagement and communication methods are located under HR Best Practice.

09/06/2016 - This guideline outlines the responsibilities on employers under the Employees (Provision of Information and Consultation) Act 2006.

Ibec's response to DETI Consultation Paper on European Works Council

23/09/2013 - Ibec welcomes the opportunity provided by the Department to respond to the Consultation Paper on the Transposition into Irish Law of recast Directive 2009/38/EC Directive 2009/38/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 May 2009 on the establishment of a European Works Council or a procedure in Community-scale undertakings and Community-scale groups of undertakings for the purposes of informing and consulting employees.

BUSINESSEUROPE-ETUC letter on European works councils

21/06/2010 - BUSINESSEUROPE and ETUC have reached an agreement on the letter on European works councils presented during the European Commission’s expert meeting on the implementation of the European works councils recast directive.

Information and consultation code of practice

14/04/2008 - The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment issued a code of practice and explanatory booklet on the Employees (Provision of Information and Consultation) Act 2006. These provide general guidance on informing and consulting with employees.
