Ibec rejects most of the findings of the review of JLCs

Ibec believes that the review into joint labour committees (JLCs) is deeply flawed and would create unjustifiable wage anomalies across the country.

The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, recently published the report of the Labour Court’s review of each existing JLC. The Minister has said he proposes to implement most of the review’s findings, including by preserving the existence of controversial JLCs in sectors such as hotels, catering, retail grocery and agriculture. Ibec reiterated its view that the entire JLC system should be scrapped.
